The deal
In plain language: Fixed scope, fixed price, in writing before work starts. Extras are quoted before they're built.
Each engagement is defined by the package purchased or a written scope. The price covers exactly what the scope lists. Requests outside the scope are quoted as add-ons at published prices and only proceed with your approval — there are no surprise invoices.
Payment
In plain language: Starter is paid up front. Bigger packages: half to book, half at launch.
Starter packages are paid in full at purchase via Stripe. Standard and Plus packages require 50% to reserve a build slot and 50% before the site goes live. Care plans bill monthly (or annually with two months free) and can be cancelled anytime, effective at the end of the billing period.
Timelines & revisions
In plain language: The clock starts when your intake form is complete. Revision rounds are counted and defined.
Published timelines begin when the completed intake form and all required content are received. Each package includes a defined number of revision rounds; a round is one consolidated list of changes to the preview site. Additional rounds are available at the published add-on price.
Ownership
In plain language: On final payment, the site is 100% yours — code, content, design, domain.
Upon receipt of final payment, all rights to the delivered website — code, design, and content created for you — transfer to you. Basalt retains the right to display the work in its portfolio unless you request otherwise. The underlying design system remains Basalt's, licensed to you perpetually and irrevocably as embedded in your site.
The Starter guarantee
In plain language: First draft completely misses? Full refund, we part friends.
If the first design draft of a Starter package fundamentally misses the brief, you may request a full refund before the revision round begins. The refund is unconditional; the draft remains Basalt's property.
Care plans & liability
In plain language: Care plans cover the site we built. Liability is capped at what you paid.
Care plans cover hosting, updates, monitoring, and included edit time for sites built by Basalt. Total liability under any engagement is limited to the amount paid for that engagement. Basalt is not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, or issues caused by third-party services outside its control.
